Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese art of harmonising the life energy in the body.  This Art had fallen into relative obscurity when Master Jiro Murai revived it in the early 1900’s, following a life threatening illness.  He cured himself with meditation, fasting and hand mudras.  He gave thanks for the return of his health and vowed to devote the rest of his life to the research and development into what is now known as Jin Shin Jyutsu®.   He practised on the poor and helped many people – this led to the Emperor hearing about his work and rewarded him with access to the Imperial Library, so that he could continue his work.  Mary Burmeister, an American of Japanese descent, met Jiro Murai shortly after the Second World War.  She studied Jin Shin Jyutsu® with him, but it was not until she had returned to the USA, married and had her family, did she begin to teach the Art that is Jin Shin Jyutsu®– now known throughout the world.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is also Japanese and works in a similar way to Shiatsu in that energy in the body is balanced. It takes place on a therapy table, but there is no movement made to the client, the practitioner places two hands on the body to harmonise the energy in a set way.   Treatment lasts about one hour.  The client remains clothed at all times.  Jin Shin Jyutsu® employs twenty-six safety energy locks, along energy pathways (similar to acupuncture points and meridians).  Treatment time is normally 60 – 75 minutes.  Shorter taster treatments can be arranged.

The marvellous thing about Jin Shin Jyutsu is that people can help themselves by holding set places on the body to continue their healing between treatments.
