Indian Head Massage is a deeply relaxing treatment with many physiological and psychological benefits. It improves the circulation of blood and oxygen to the head, neck, shoulders, and aids in the elimination of toxins and other products from these areas. This results in improved condition of the hair and skin, greater concentration and relieves eyestrain. Indian Head Massage helps to relax muscle and nerve fibres in the treated areas and can reduce tension as well as stimulating the production of endorphins - the body's natural pain killers. It helps to slow down and deepen breathing, slows the heart rate and lowers blood pressure. It encourages the body to rest and relax, all of which assist the body to repair itself.
A typical treatment is carried out with the client seated in an upright position. Massage starts with the upper back and shoulders, proceeds to the arms and then to the neck, scalp and hair, and finishes with the face and ears. Indian Head Massage can be applied through clothing or with a towel wrapped round the client and oil applied directly to the skin, depending upon the client's own preference.
Treatment lasts approximately 45 minutes (allow one and a quarter)
